Another 3 shrew species of SE Europe.
These are the 2 species of the genus Sorex (S. araneus & S. minutus) and the diminutive Suncus etruscus -the Etruscan Shrew.
The latter has the distinction of being the smallest mammal of Europe and one of the smallest terrestrial mammals of the whole world. To put it in numbers, its body measures as little as 3.6cm plus a tail of 2.4cm and weighs 1.5gr. It is so small that it can battle earthworms inside their own burrows.
